If you’re anything like me, and I like to think I’m fairly normal, then your skin goes through cycles. Kind of like hair cuts, my skin goes through phases of breakouts, then begins to clear…looks awesome for a solid week, and then the cycle resumes. Sound familiar? So your foundation is SUPER important.
Years ago, my skin was greasy, breakouts CONSTANT, and I kept covering up breakouts with concealer…only to cause more breakouts. Finally, my dermatologist recommended Bare Minerals. While I hated the regular formula, the Bare Minerals Matte Foundation was my JAM. It never clogged my pores, my skin cleared up, and I was controlling my oily complexion. If you run oily, this is for you!
Over the years, I’ve graduated beyond Bare Minerals and can finally handle a liquid foundation, which is great because I prefer a dewy look anyhow! For every day wear, I always use a tinted moisturizer (I love THIS one by Laura Mercier and use shade sand) or CC Cream. I go back and forth between the two! Lately, I’ve been loooooving IT Cosmetics CC Cream (I’m shade Neutral Medium). It’s totally buildable, which means it’s light enough to see your freckles, but provides enough coverage to conceal blemishes and even you out! I also LOVE the fact that it protects again the sun because nobody likes wrinkles, girls! If you run dry, like a dewier look, or just prefer liquid period, you definitely want to try one of these! I apply both using a beauty blender.

For date nights and special occasions, I whip out the real stuff…Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (I wear shade 7.5 to match my self-tanner). This foundation is incredible. I don’t even know where to begin. Completely buildable, so you can get lighter or heavier coverage based on your preference or current skin condition, and it looks exactly like your skin! No cake-face here! It also lasts alllllllll day, which is why I even chose it for my wedding day. Because it is pricey, I use it super sparingly, but when I do, I swear my skin glows. There’s a reason the word “luminous” is in the name! I like to pump a little on the back of my hand and apply it with a brush. This M439 Morphe brush is my favorite to apply because it has short bristles so it doesn’t waste a lot of this pricey product.

Whenever using a liquid foundation, I love to seal the deal with a loose setting powder. Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder is my absolute favorite. Gets rid of shine, but once is settles in you still get that dreamy, super natural look. I use this Morphe E3 brush to lightly dust it all over my face, or just anywhere I shine too much to be cute.
